Num contexto imobiliário cada vez mais saturado, surge a necessidade de proteger e conservar o património arquitetónico existente e adaptá-lo às novas necessidades do consumidor. Por outro lado, numa perspetiva de sustentabilidade, e tendo em conta a pressão turística que se faz sentir, de forma particular no nosso país, torna-se cada vez mais apelativo o aproveitamento do edificado existente que à partida pode não possuir grande valor patrimonial arquitetónico nem histórico, mas que pode ter um grande interesse no sentido de abrir portas a este novo mercado.
Neste sentido, propõe-se que esta dissertação seja, acima de tudo, um ponto de partida para a futura realização de um projeto há muito idealizado. O projeto em causa, de reabilitação de uma casa de família, surge assim desta necessidade de revitalizar este património que, devido à sua gradual desocupação, tem vindo a degradar-se progressivamente. Acreditando no potencial deste espaço, o cliente pretende reabilitá-lo na íntegra, tentando ao máximo preservar a sua imagem original e, não só dar-lhe condições de habitabilidade para a família, mas adaptá-lo a novas funcionalidades, tornando-o apto para a realização de atividades turísticas.
Desenvolvida como um trabalho interdisciplinar, esta dissertação estende-se para além do exercício de projeto e pretende refletir acerca do tema da reabilitação, tentando aferir até que ponto a memória da arquitetura do passado convive (ou pode conviver) com a arquitetura contemporânea, desencadeando um conjunto de relações que densificam a história do território. Por outro lado, interessa também refletir acerca do que significa reabitar, particularmente no contexto desafiante da contemporaneidade.
Em última análise, pretende-se, acima de tudo, partir do tema da reabilitação e, em particular, do objeto "Casa da Garrida" para realizar um exercício de síntese destes seis anos de estudo na FAUP, convocando alguns dos temas discutidos neste período.In an increasingly saturated real estate market, the need to protect and conserve the existing architectural heritage and adapt it to the new needs of the consumer is becoming more and more urgent. On the other hand, thinking about sustainability, and taking into account the pressure that tourism implies, particularly in our country, it is becoming increasingly appealing to take advantage of the existing buildings, which, apparently, may not have great architectural or historical value, but can be very useful to landlords opening doors to this "new" market.
In this context, this dissertation aims to be, above all, a starting point for the future realization of a long-conceived project. The project in question - the rehabilitation of a family home - comes from this need to revitalize a house that, due to its gradual eviction , has been progressively degrading. Believing in the potential of this space, the client intends to rehabilitate it entirely, trying as much as possible to preserve its original image and not only give it conditions of habitability for the family, but adapt it to new usages, making it fit for carrying out touristic activities.
Intended to be an interdisciplinary work, this dissertation extends beyond the project exercise and aims to reflect on the issue of rehabilitation, trying to gauge the extent to which the memory of the architecture of the past coexists (or can coexist) with contemporary architecture, triggering a set of relations that densify the history of the territory. On the other hand, it is also interesting to reflect on what it means to re-inhabit, particularly in the challenging context of the present.
Ultimately, it is intended, above all, to start from the theme of rehabilitation and, in particular, from the object "Casa da Garrida" to carry out an exercise reflecting on the past six years of study at FAUP, inviting some of the subjects discussed in this period
