Doctoral Line in Sexology of the University of AlmerıaManuel Lucas MatheuSexology Program, Universidad de Almeria, SpainSexology, in recent times has begun to climb steps, aca-demic and research level, to become a university dis-cipline, less and less peripheral and marginalized.Sexology is not a newborn science. He has a long his-tory, but he needed to institutionalize academically.The level of research papers published in impact jour-nals is very low in relation to other disciplines.In 2003, the University of Almería launched its ownMaster’s degree in Sexology. And in 2007, this titlebecame official, the first Official Master in Sexology inthe European Community. It is the first official post-graduate degree, both researcher and professionals,with direct access to a doctoral line in Sexology. In thisdoctoral line, 15 people have already successfully com-pleted and passed their doctoral thesis, with Sexologicalinvestigations, mostly with cross-sectional and correl-ational research, with different lines of research inSexology, and some with scale validations, as necessaryfor Sexological research. The quotas of doctoral stu-dents are currently co-opted in that line, and we havehad to go to other doctorates (Humanities, Medicine,Education, etc), to give way to high demand, and atthis time there are 25 people enrolled, of which 4 havealready concluded, and another 10 will do so inOctober.Keywords: Sexology, Doctoral Program, PostgraduateStudiesConflict of Interest and Disclosure Statement: nonconflit of InterestDoctoral Program in Human Sexuality at Porto University in PortugalPedro NobreFaculdade de Psicologia e Ciências da Educação, Universidade do Porto, Porto, PortugalThe Doctoral Program in Human Sexuality (DPHS) atPorto University https://www.fpce.up.pt/pdsh/en/about.html aims to promote advanced knowledge and thedevelopment of excellent research in a relevant area,central to the well-being and biopsychosocial health.The DPHS is one of the first PhD programs of thiskind in the European space and one of the few inter-nationally. Promotes high quality advanced trainingwhile establishing international strategic partnerships,with the final goal of establishing an internationalresearch centre in the area of sexuality at theUniversity of Porto and in Portugal.The PhD is multidisciplinary in nature and has fivethematic areas: sexual education, gender, sexual medi-cine, sexual and reproductive health and clinicalsexology.The PhD is a 3-year program: the 1st year covers anumber of thematic areas in the five main areas, the2nd and 3rd year are devoted to the development of adoctoral dissertation (promoting the dissemination ofthe studies through its presentation at scientificmeetings and publication in international peer-reviewed journals).The Doctoral Program can also count on a laborato-rial resource: the SexLab (https://www.fpce.up.pt/sex-lab/eng/home.html).Lastly, this Doctoral Programme aims to establishinstitutional partnerships at the level of teaching andresearch (as well as mobility of faculty and students)with some of the most reputable international univer-sities in the subject of human sexuality, benefitingfrom a network of existing collaborations with some ofthe most recognized international researchers in thedomain of sexuality (this network includes universitiesand other scientific and professional organisations inEurope and in the American Continent, such as theWorld Association for Sexual Health (WAS) (http://www.worldsexology.org/).Keywords: Doctoral Programs, Human Sexuality, SexResearchConflict of Interest and Disclosure Statement: NoneA142 ABSTRACTS
