As transformações urbanas implicam variações e pressões sobre aglomerados e, como consequência, a alteração da imagem da cidade. Neste contexto, as considerações sobre os momentos e os processos de intervenção em alguns sectores da cidade tornam-se elementos pertinentes para a reflexão e contextualização do planeamento urbanístico. A presente dissertação debruça-se sobre esta temática, tendo como objeto de estudo a cidade de Aveiro, e todas as interações e elementos presentes na cidade: reconhecer e aprofundar numa ação, propósitos e metodologias associados à intervenção na cidade. Incidiu-se na procura de um estudo morfológico recolhendo informação sobre a evolução da cidade, assim como, um estudo da edificação habitacional, ligado à escala do tecido urbano, com uma seleção de conjuntos urbanos que abarcam uma variedade de escalas e situações, e onde se identificam possíveis influências de modelos da cidade. Tendo como objetivo a criação de um ensaio de uma estratégia de método de projeto interventivo na cidade, com um registo de como se pode fazer o seu levantamento; uma aproximação ao domínio daquilo que são os grandes modelos de cidade; e uma aquisição de novos atributos que possibilitem um ganho de autonomia/ conhecimento aquando uma intervenção futura similar ao que aqui se regista. Isto para um entendimento de como se pode intervir melhorando o existente, conservando ou não determinadas características da dimensão física da cidade. No ensaio, existe uma correlação entre a arquitetura e a cidade, visto que, a intervenção arquitetónica opera na construção deste grande projeto unitário/ coletivo no tempo que é a cidade, trabalhando sobre determinados elementos que lentamente se modificam. O conhecimento destes elementos e os conjuntos urbanos presentes na cidade de Aveiro são essenciais para despertar um processo de reflexão que permita uma maturidade na possibilidade/oportunidade de intervenção na cidade.The urban transformations require variations and pressures about certain clusters, and as consequence, an alteration of the city image. In this context, the considerations about the intervention moments and processes in a few sections of the city becomes relevant for the reflection and contextualization of the urban planning. The present dissertation addresses to a group of concerns about this theme having as study object the city of Aveiro and all of the interactions and elements of the city, serving as an example to recognize and go deeper into an action, meanings and methodologies associated with an intervention in the city. It focuses in the search for a morphologic study with localized historic examples, recognizing and gathering information about the evolution of the city as well as a study of his edification, connected to an urban tissue scale with a selection of urban groups that embrace a variety of situations and scales where they identify possible influences of city models. Having as objective the creation of an essay of an intervention project strategy method in the city, with a record of how it can be made; an approximation to the domain of what are the big city models; and an acquisition of new attributes which enable a gain of autonomy/knowledge for a future intervention similar to this one. This is all for an understanding of how can we intervene by improving the already created, conserving or not, certain characteristics of the physical dimension of the city. In the creation of the essay, there is a correlation between the architecture and the city , since the architectural intervention runs in the construction of this unitary/collective big project in time, that is the city, working on certain elements that slowly modify themselves. The knowledge of this elements and the selection of the urban groups in the city of Aveiro, are essential to evoke a reflection process that allows a maturity in a possibility/opportunity of an intervention in the city
