A segunda metade do séc.XX foi, em Portugal, sinónimo de um conjunto de transformações políticas, sociais, e sobretudo culturais, que encontraram no tema da habitação, o expoente máximo de experimentação e divulgação, definindo novas posições e ideias na evolução da arquitetura moderna portuguesa.O presente estudo centra-se no tema da habitação unifamiliar, mais precisamente na observação, análise e divulgação de um caso particular - o conjunto de instalações agrícolas e habitação de férias para Barca de Alva, de Alfredo Matos Ferreira, construída entre 1949 e 2005, obra que pelas suas características, transformações e diferentes formas de uso ou apropriação, torna-se num objeto paradigmático da vasta obra projetual do autor em questão.O momento serve também como pretexto para documentar o percurso deste mestre e exemplar arquiteto, procurando enquadrar a sua obra no panorama da arquitetura portuguesa do séc. XX.Assim, considerando a especificidade e identidade da paisagem transmontana, e recorrendo aos diferentes registos escritos, desenhados ou fotográficos da casa, procede-se a uma investigação com o objetivo de analisar e interpretar não só todo o processo criativo da obra, mas também de situar historicamente os vários fatos arquitectónicos pertencentes a esta, procurando que através deste estudo, novas possibilidades interpretativas possam surgir, contribuindo para acrescentar algo mais ao estudo do panorama arquitectónico moderno português da segunda metade do séc.XX.The second half of the twentieth century was in Portugal, synonymous of a set of politic, social, and above all, cultural transformations, that found in the housing theme, the epitome of experimentation and/or dissemination, defining new positions and/or ideas, on the evolution of modern portuguese architecture.This study focuses on the theme of the single-family housing, more precisely in the study, analysis and/or disclosure of a particular case - the set of farm buildings and holiday housing for Barca de Alva, by Alfredo Matos Ferreira, built between 1949 and 2005. This construction has characteristics, transformations and different forms of use and/or appropriation that make it a paradigmatic object of the vast architectural design work of the author.The moment also serves as an excuse to document the course of this master and exemplary architect, seeking to frame his work in the panorama of the twentieth century Portuguese architecture.Thus, given the specificity and/or identity of the region landscape, and using all the available written, designed, and photo records of the house, we proceed to an investigation. The main propose of this study is to analyze and/or interpret not only the entire creative process of the work, but also to situate the historically architectural facts relating to this, trying that through this study, new interpretive possibilities may arise, helping to add something else to the study of modern Portuguese architectural panorama of the second half of the twentieth century
