Abstract

The present study aimed at studying the differences in the degree of self-control skills in a sample of spoken and non-spoken persons with autism spectrum disorder in Kuwait. The sample of the study consisted of 10 spoken cases and 10 non-spoken with autism spectrum disorder. The results indicate that the overall mean of the degree of self-control among the spoken and non-spoken was at the average, in addition to the variation in the degree of ownership of some behaviors between high, medium and low on some items between the two groups. Also, the results indicated that the degree of self-control between spoken and non-spoken of persons with autism spectrum disorder were not statistically significant in self-control. The study recommended applying the tool to larger samples and providing appropriate treatments to improve self-control skills. The present study aimed at studying the differences in the degree of self-control skills in a sample of spoken and non-spoken persons with autism spectrum disorder in Kuwait.
