Metasedimentary rocks in the Vesthaugen, have been characterized by an appearance of cordierite.  Cordierite-bearing metasediments were 1) garnet-cordierite-spinel granulite and 2) leucocratic garnet-sillimanite-biotite gneiss.  Former rock contains sillimanite and orthopyroxene, but they never coexist within same thinsection.  Minor biotite occurs as secondary mineral.  Cordierites are developed on the margins of spinel, garnet, orthopyroxene and sillimanite.  The leucocratic garnet-sillimanite-biotite gneiss rarely contains staurolite and andalusite.  Most cordierite occurs as reaction corona around the garnet.  Based on these microscopic observations, cordierite is assumed to have formed by a garnet-breakdown reaction.  Rare coronitic andalusite includes staurolite and spinel, implies that retrograde metamorphism was progressed under the condition of < 4 kbar, 500–600 C.  A clockwise P-T path, associated with decompression at early and andalusite formation at late stage, was broadly similar to those of metamorphic P-T paths reported from the Sør Rondane Mountains (Asami et al., 1992) and north Austkampane (Adachi et al. in press).  Our preliminary result supports revised new concept of geological division in the Sør Rondane Mountains (Osanai et al. in submitted) that north Austkampane and Vesthaugen were continuous terrane.   ベストハウゲンはセールロンダーネ山地北西部（あすか基地の南西約 25km，ブラットニーパネの北西約35km）に位置する孤立した露岩である．主に閃緑岩～石英閃緑岩，黒雲母-角閃石片麻岩，角閃石片麻岩，珪線石・ザクロ石-黒雲母片麻岩より構成される(Shiraishi et al., 1992)．Osanai et al. (1992)は変成岩の全岩化学組成に基づき，セールロンダーネ山地を I～VI帯に区分した．この区分に従うと，ベストハウゲンはブラットニーパネ北端とともに II帯を構成する．Shiraishi et al. (1992)は菫青石を含む片麻岩類をベストハウゲンから報告しているが，ブラットニーパネにおいて菫青石の産出は稀である．このような産状の違いは，異なる造構熱史に由来する可能性が高く，その相違を考察することは意義あることと考える．そこで本報告では第 49次日本南極地域観測隊・セール・ロンダーネ地学調査隊でベストハウゲンから採取した菫青石を含む片麻岩類の変成組織と鉱物組み合わせに基づき，予察的な変成作用の温度圧力経路を報告する．  含菫青石変成岩類は，ザクロ石-菫青石-スピネル（GCS）グラニュライト，優白質ザクロ石-珪線石-黒雲母(LGSB)片麻岩に区分される．GCSグラニュライトには珪線石や斜方輝石を伴うことがあり，黒雲母は二次鉱物として少量認められる．多量のスピネルが認められ，それらの周縁は菫青石に取り囲まれる．斜方輝石，珪線石，ザクロ石の周縁も菫青石に置換されていることが多い．粗粒なスピネルの包有物として極微細なコランダム，石英が認められた．LGSB片麻岩の菫青石はザクロ石を置換してコロナ状に産することが多い．稀に紅柱石や十字石を伴うことがある．以上の観察結果から，菫青石の形成はザクロ石の分解に起因すると考えられ，減圧過程を示すことが想起される．紅柱石は十字石やスピネルを包有して産することがあり，十字石および紅柱石の安定領域，およそ 4 kbar以下，500～600℃の条件で後退変成作用は進行したことが予想される．このような温度圧力経路はAsami et al. (1992) の示した時計回りの温度圧力経路やアウストカンパーネ北部での後退変成作用(Adachi et al., in press)と類似している．ブラットニーパネ地域で得られた等圧冷却過程を伴う反時計回りの温度圧力経路 (Adachi et al., in press; Baba et al., in submitted)とは異なっており，Osanai et al. (in submitted)の提案した地質構造，変成作用，  重力異常に基づく新たな区分，すなわちベストハウゲンをアウストカンパーネ北部に連続する考えを支持する．変成ピーク時の温度圧力条件についても詳細を今後検討し，講演する予定である．  References Adachi et al., Contrasting metamorphic records in the central Sør Rondane Mountains, eastern Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica.
