Abstract

This chapter introduces for the first time a method for the study of spatial and social dynamics linked to the practice of gaming. This outlines for the first time the possibility of a systematic study of evidence that is omnipresent, easy to collect, and understudied. This is a work that, as all by the author, is undertaken with the aid of the full spectrum of resources available to archaeologists and classicists alike. Together with a previous article by the author, this work outlines the fundamental space-shaping influence of everyday behaviour in Roman towns. It is an article that questions established orthodoxies on urban space-formation and its agents
