Contenders to host 22nd world Cup were Qatar, Australia, Japan, South Korea and USA. Qatar won the bid to host the 2022 World Cup to the surprise of everybody. Qatar is a tiny country in Middle East with a population of 1,690,000 (Qatar 2022 World Cup bid, 2011).
