Transforming Education for All : the Tower Hamlets Story

Abstract

Since the infamous amd damning Ofsted report of 1998, attainment and achievement have been transformed in Tower Hamlets despite significant socio-economic deprivation. The authors explore the factors behind this remarkable transformation which demonstrates conclusively that deprivation is not destiny and that a Local Authority with its schools, backed by a range of partners, can dramatically improve the life chances of its children and young people
