Compassionate love for humanity and empathy have never been studied together in relation to forgiveness. This research aims to compare the two variables, identifying whether empathy or compassionate love for humanity will serve as a stronger predictor of forgiveness. It was hypothesized that compassionate love would be a stronger predictor than empathy. To test this hypothesis, undergraduate students in psychology courses at Liberty University completed an online survey that addressed levels of forgiveness, compassionate love for humanity, and empathy.
