Those found in the Old Testament, as given by the prophets 1. David’s testimony:  “For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption” (Psa. 16:10). 2. Isaiah’s testimony:  “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities” (Isa. 53:10, 11). 3. Zechariah’s testimony:  “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn” (Zech. 12:10). B. Those found in the Gospel accounts, as given by the Savior Himself.  Jesus predicted His resurrection on at least nine occasions: 1. After the first temple cleansing:  “Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it   up” (John 2:19).    2.   Upon being asked by the Pharisees to show them a sign:  a.   First occasion    “But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth” (Matt. 12:39, 40).  b.   Second occasion (Matt. 16:4)    “A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed” (Matt. 16:4).          3.    After promising to build His church:    “From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto     Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed,      and be raised again the third day” (Matt. 16:21). 4.  After the Transfiguration event:  “And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were   exceeding sorry” (Matt. 17:23). 5.   During His final trip to Jerusalem: “Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again” (Matt. 20:18, 19). 6. During His sermon on the Good Shepherd: “Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father” (John 10:17, 18). 7. Following the Triumphal Entry: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit” (John 12:24). 8. In the Upper Room: “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom” (Matt. 26:28, 29). 9. En route to Gethsemane:   “But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee” (Matt. 26:32). • The references: There are some thirty-four specific references in eleven New Testament epistles regarding Jesus’s resurrection.  These resurrection references are as follows: a.  Acts 1:22; 2:31; 3:15; 4:2, 10; 5:30; 10:40; 13:23, 30, 37; 23:6; 24:15, 21 b.   Romans 1:4; 4:24; 6:5; 8:11; 10:9 c.  1 Corinthians 6:14; 15:12, 13, 15, 21, 42 d.  2 Corinthians 4:14 e.  Galatians 1:1 f.  Ephesians 1:20 g.  Philippians 3:10 h.  Colossians 2:12 i.  1 Thessalonians 1:10 j.       1 Peter 1:3, 21; 3:21 k.   Revelation 1:18
