1  NATIONAL NETWORK OF LIBRARIES OF MEDICINE MIDCONTINENTAL REGION OPTION YEAR 4 (2015-2016) OBJECTIVES  Revised April 7, 2015  Assessment and Evaluation 1. Respond to NLM questions and share ideas and information from the region. 2. Reconstitute Regional Advisory Board and assess the experience of Board members and the impact of the Board on RML programming. 3. Work with Resource Libraries to carry out RML programs, including signing and monitoring implementation of subcontracts for basic services, and assess Resource Library and coordinator experiences. 4. Monitor and evaluate NN/LM MCR programs to assess their effectiveness in improving access to health information. Education 1. Write and distribute articles about health information resources. 2. Identify and promote history of medicine collections in the NN/LM MCR region, highlight NLM History of Medicine resources including traveling exhibits. 3. Increase the capacity of Network members to do assessment. 4. Develop, promote, and provide training on resources and tools, especially from NLM and NN/LM, that increase Network member skills to develop projects and programs (includes ClinicalTrials.gov Results and MedlinePlus Connect).  5. Administer funding for Professional Development Awards. Health Information Literacy 1. Manage and contribute to Bringing Health Information to the Community blog. 2. Exhibit at local, regional, state or national events (including conferences where the target audience is affiliated with national initiatives).  3. Inform those who work with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) populations about multiple language resources. 4. Post responses to health related queries submitted to online environments. (e.g., listservs, forums etc.) 5. Encourage and/or support health information literacy collaborations that reach other networks and relevant organizations. 6. Submit program proposals at local, regional, state, or National events. 7. Maintain State Library collaborations. 8. Administer K-12 funding. 2  Library Advocacy 1. Support librarians to become involved in patient safety activities in their institutions. 2. Support inclusion of librarians in team practice by highlighting their contributions to achieving value driven outcomes. 3. Investigate the value of librarian services in the cost of patient care. 4. Support member librarians and access to health information during and after organizational restructuring. Member Services 1. Identify and share new services for full text document delivery. 2. Conduct drills or exercises to test the continuity of service plans on a regular basis. 3. Involve Network members in RML infrastructure and outreach. 4. Manage portions of the NN/LM Resource Sharing Plan (includes membership recruitment among K-12 and community college libraries). Technology 1. Provide consultations and assist Network members who cannot access NLM and NN/LM resources and services. 2. Monitor and disseminate technology developments. 3. We have revised the technology objective to read as follows:  Develop, enhance, and maintain MCR methods for accessing NN/LM MCR program offerings to ensure that our online presence is operational, current, and free of barriers; that our interactive tools enhance the user experience; and educational technologies are effective in helping us meet the stated learning objectives of the session.  4. Develop, enhance, and maintain the NN/LM MCR game. 5. Capture and share short videos of Network members describing effective practices in librarianship. 6. Network members, participating in the Mobile App Sharing project, share information about apps. 7. Manage the Under Connected CBO iPad Project. 8. Network members in the Data Management/Curation Interest Group will share effective practices with the region. 9. NN/LM MCR will migrate remaining web content to the Drupal architecture and ensure that other content not migrated to Drupal is in another content management system (CMS) used by NN/LM.
