Microbiological Aspects of Sterilization
Development Laboratories 
A technical report on the microbiological aspects 
of the Experimental Assembly and Sterilization Lab-
oratory and of the Sterilization Assembly and Develop-
ment Laboratory is available (Note 2). This report 
deals with an investigation of vertical laminar flow 
clean rooms for use in spacecraft assembly. A re-
duction of particulate and microbial contamination 
occurs in the application. Minimizing this con-
tamination during assembly enhances any steriliza-
tion process used to satisfy planetary quarantine 
requirements. 
Sections in the report are: Introduction; Experimen-
tal Assembly and Sterilization Laboratory Microbio-
logical Studies; Sterilization Assembly and Develop-
ment Laboratory Studies; and References. The report 
also includes an abstract, tables, and figures.
