Promet – Traffic&Transportation, Vol. 28, 2016, No. 5, 559-560 559Periodical ColumnsERGONOMICS 2016  – Focus on Synergy 6th International Ergonomics ConferenceThe 6th International Ergonomics Conference “ER-GONOMICS 2016 – Focus on Synergy” took place from 15th to 18th of June 2016 in Zadar, Croatia, and it was held in a relaxed atmosphere of the Falkensteiner Ho-tels & Residences, Borik.The Conferences in this series have been orga-nized by the Croatian Ergonomics Society (CES) every three years since 2001, and from 2016 it was set to be organized every two years. Existing for more than four decades, CES have recognized the importance of knowledge and experiences exchange between scien-tists and experts, as well as in the broader population, which is now one of the most featured objectives of CES plans and strategy. From 2001 until 2013, five International Ergonom-ics Conferences were successfully organized: one in Zagreb, three in Stubičke Toplice and one in Petrčane.This time, ERGONOMICS 2016 – Focus on Synergy was a joint project with the Swiss Ergonomics Associa-tion (SwissErgo), Ergonomics Society of Taiwan (EST), Chinese Ergonomics Society (CES), Chinese Associa-tion of Ergonomics Societies (CAES) and three facul-ties from the University of Zagreb - Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences (FPZ), Faculty of Mechanical En-gineering and Naval Architecture (FSB) and Faculty of Textile Technology (TTF).Furthermore, for the first time the ERGONOMICS 2016 – Focus on Synergy was endorsed by: Interna-tional Ergonomics Association (IEA) and  Federation of the European Ergonomics Societies (FEES).During the Conference opening ceremony, Aleksan-dar Sušić (President of CES and Conference manager) emphasized the most important details about the Con-ference, and asked Yushi Fujita (President of IEA), Eric Min-Yang Wang (past President of IEA), Sylvain Leduc (President of FEES), Yuh-Chuan Shih (President of EST) and Tomislav Mlinarić (Vice-dean of FPZ) to address the participants with a few welcoming words.More than 90 papers were submitted, and after the peer review process, 60 papers were presented at the Conference as lectures or poster sessions and published in the Conference Proceedings (ISSN 1848-9699) in full text. The participants came from the fol-lowing countries: Argentina, Austria, Croatia, China, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Japan, Po-land, Portugal, Romania, Republic of Korea, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the UK and the USA. In the introductory part of the Conference sessions, the following invited speakers contributed with their lectures: Yushi Fujita (Japan), Sylvain Leduc (France), Eric Min-Yang Wang (Taiwan) and Uwe Reischl (USA).The participants had also the opportunity to attend the Research and Project Space Session, where re-search and professional ideas, proposals and problem solutions could be exchanged, along with experimen-tal instrumentation and methodology presentations.Yushi Fujita, President of IEA and Sylvain Leduc, President of FEES, during the Conference opening ceremony Yushi Fujita, President of IEA and Sylvain Leduc, President of FEES, during the Conference opening ceremony560 Promet – Traffic&Transportation, Vol. 28, 2016, No. 5, 559-560Periodical ColumnsConference events such as Welcome party, City Za-dar Tour, Surprise excursion to Nin Saltworks and Gala Conference Dinner were additional opportunities to meet old and new friends and make new contacts, in order to achieve the common goals: open new possibil-ities for cooperation and contribute to progress within the ergonomics family.The Croatian Ergonomics Society will be open in the future for developing more intensive cooperation with all institutions and associations from Croatia and abroad dealing with ergonomic research and assess-ment, with the aim of mass popularization of humanity during work.The next ERGONOMICS is scheduled in 2018 in Zadar.Assoc.
