Progress in the technology of organic solvent separation membrane

Abstract

Membrane separation technology has been developed as an energy-saving approach to separate, purify and recover organic solvents. The commonly used membrane processes are pervaporation, vapor permeation solvent-resistant nanofiltration and reverse osmosis for organic solvents separation. In this review, the recent progress in the technology of organic solvent separation membrane was summarized, and their advantages and shortcomings were discussed respectively. Furthermore, the separation mechanism of each membrane was introduced and its membrane materials and preparation methods were summarized with particular applications as well. This review aims to provide insights on the development of filtration membrane technology for organic solvent separation
