Mengembangkan Profesionalitas Guru Abad 21 Melalui Program Pembimbingan Yang Efektif

Abstract

Teachers in the 21s' century are facing more complex and difficult challenges of their works, for examples: an increasing diversity of students and parents, a higher demands of education quality, the higher standard of teaching and learning process and outcomes, and etc. Therefore, compared to the previous era, a professional teacher today should have a more wide range of teacher competencies, such as teaching and managing class effectively; building, developing, and managing the relationship with students and school community; using technology for more effective communication and instruction; and also becoming a continues professional learner to adjust himself/herself to the rapid changes and demands of his or her school environment. Consequently, teachers need an effective teacher development to provide helps and support for their professional development. Today mentoring is considered as one of effective strategies of teacher development. It has characteristics of effective teacher development in the 21s' century. An effective mentoring not only provides an on-going and continues professional development for teachers in their workplace but also potentially creates a professional learning community which is a vital component for both teacher and school success. To give a more significant effect in school, an effective mentoring needs to be programmed which requires structural, cultural, and also leadership support from school and district
