The growth of telecommunication technology has influenced telecommunication businesses which have become more interesting. One of the telecommunication businesses is telephony billing systems. There have been many kinds of equipments that would be able to support that business, called Telephony Billing System Equipment. Some of them use computer, and the others do not. In this project, theTelephony Billing System Equipment was designed without computer and could detect pilot signals automatically. There were four kinds of pilot signals used, that were a 16 KHz injection signal, a reverse polarity, a ringback tone, and human voice responses. The system would calculate the telephony billing and then print the detailed billing. The system built was used microcontroller AT89C51 to control memory, clock, display and printer. From the experiments, we concluded that the designed equipment has worked successfully and efficiently, and it needs a low electric power, 2.42 Watt
