: This paper tries to see the phenomenon of “politik aliran” in party politics in Bali. The key concept in the analysis of this paper begins from the understanding of the social cleavage on how the structure of society becomes the locus of the emergence of the party. After mapping the social locus where the social base of the party grows, attention will then be given to how the fundamental social conflict is manifested in the choices the party as a channel of interest. The research showed that the choice at the local level illustrates the pattern of choice at the national level, so that the configuration of local politics can be understood as a reflection of national politics.
