International audienceDuring the first century BC AD, the south-east of the Massif central has the particularity of positioning itself at the interface of two major culturalentities, internal Gaul and the Roman province of Transalpine. The upper course of the river Loire is therefore a major axis of interaction betweenthese two systems, around which develops a network of habitats and structured agglomerations among which are inserted fortified spaces withconfigurations and functions varied.Au cours du Ier siècle av. n. è., le sud-est du Massif central revêt la particularité de se positionner à l’interface de deux ensembles culturels d’envergure, la Gaule interne et la Province romaine de Transalpine. Le cours supérieur de la Loire constitue à ce titre un axe d’interaction majeur entre ces deux entités, autour duquel se développe un réseau d’habitats et d’agglomérations structurées parmi lequel s’insère un maillage d’espaces fortifiés aux configurations et fonctions diverses
