We develop a lower and upper solution method for the Dirichlet problem associated with the prescribed mean curvature equation in Minkowski space {-div( 07u/ 1a1-| 07u|2=f(x,u) in \u3a9 u=0 on 02\u3a9 Here \u3a9 is a bounded regular domain in \u211dNand the function f satisfies the Carath\ue9odory conditions. The obtained results display various peculiarities due to the special features of the involved differential operator
