Complex polygenetic profiles form in mountainous tropical areas in Sierra Sur de Oaxaca, Southern Mexico. Some soils form on complex sediments: colluvial materials over deeply weathered clays. Depending on the genetic interpretation, they are classified as Chromic Luvisols or Thaptoluvic Cambisols.
