At least one of the authorst be a member of the Academy, except that the Editoriald is authorized to accept articles for publication fromed speakers. Papers should be original contributions byauthors to their respective fields of knowledge. Theorial Board reserves the right toedit, shorten, or rejectpapers submitted for publication. Submitted papers willjviewedby persons competent in the area of study.Rod manuscript writing is expected. A manuscriptiring more than minor editing will be returned to thedi-(s) for revision. This process may cause sufficienty to prevent publication in the issue of theCEEDINGS for which it was submitted. Two copies ofthe manuscript, the original and a clean copy for reviewgoses, must be submitted to the session chairman at theof the paper reading. Manuscripts should be typewrittendouble spaced throughout. Nothing in the manuscriptshould be underlined except Latin names of genera andspecies. The following format sequence is recommended as aguide: title, author(s), abstract, introduction, materials andBods, results, discussion, literature cited. Literatureons must be accurate and they should be arrangedibetically on the final pages of the manuscript. Thenmended generalized citation for a periodical is:Author(s). Publication year. Complete title. Periodicalname and volume: complete pagination.Bstrations, line drawings and photographs should be ofighest quality, and each should be numbered as figuresle back. Such illustrations should be proportioned>rly to fit a PROCEEDINGS page (single column ordouble column) by direct reproduction. It size reductionduring printing is necessary, lettering must be large enoughto be legible after reduction. Legends for illustrations shouldbe designated with arable numerals and submittedseparately, never on the illustrations. Original drawings andphotographs need not be submitted with the originalmanuscript, but willbe requested after the manuscript hasbeen reviewed.Tables should be planned to fitone or two printed columnsof PROCEEDINGS format (314" or 7" wide). Avoidcomplextables which willbe difficult to read and which willrequirevertical lines forcolumns. Number tables consecutively withRoman numerals. Type all tables double spaced, one permanuscript page, with the table number and legend headingthe page. Include enough Information ineach table legend toexplain adequately the data of the table. Footnotes to tablesshould be avoided, but ifnecessary, they should be conciseand clearly indicated.Special instructions which the author deems necessary forplacement of tables and figures withinthe printed text shouldbe submitted with the manuscript, but separate from thebody of the manuscript. These requirements willbe honoredif possible. The complete address of the author to whicheditorial correspondence is to be directed must be includedon a separate page at the end of the original manuscript.Manuscripts normally will be limited to two publishedpages. Additional pages willbe charged to the author at cost.Authors should expect to bear charges arising fromexceptional typesetting or illustration.The Editor willInform authors of the review status ot theirpapers and submit for their final review the page proofs ofarticles accepted for publication.
