DEVELOPMENT OF THE PARTS OF SPEECH THEORY IN RUSSIAN RUSISTICS

Abstract

This paper analyzes the development of parts of speech theory in Russian rusistics within the period of the past two hundred years. The analysis allows us to consider the approaches towards the classifications based on various principles (logic, psychological, positivistic, functional, cognitive) and come up with the characteristics enabling the scholars to give non-contradictory linguistic definitions to the parts of speech, state their exact number, identify the boundaries between them and develop a system of parts of speech.This paper analyzes the development of parts of speech theory in Russian rusistics within the period of the past two hundred years.
