Prop de la frontera, la ciutat de Figueres va esdevenir un dels centres de la repressió franquista. Durant la postguerra, a més de la presó de partit judicial i de la militar situada al castell de Sant Ferran, acollí un camp de concentració dels vençuts de la Guerra Civil, el qual fou instal·lat primerament en un antic magatzem de carbó i després al mateix castell dels militars. L’article aporta notícies de fonts militars i testimoniatges personals sobre el funcionament d’aquest establiment i ofereix una mostra sociològica dels individus que hi foren tancats. L’escriptor Josep Miracle i l’historiador Rafael Olivar Bertran es comptaren entre els reclosos.Situated near the border, the town of Figueres became one of the centres of the Franco repression. During the postwar, in addition to the judicial and military prison at the Sant Ferran castle, the town housed a concentration camp for those defeated in the Civil War, which was first installed in a former coal warehouse and then at the same castle run by the military.
