En aquest estudi examinarem, a partir de l'anàlisi de l'edició de Les Champs magnétiques
de Breton i Soupault a la «Bibliothèque de la Pléiade», les dificultats que planteja
editar un escrit elaborat mitjançant el procediment de l'escriptura automàtica, atès que, si
bé una edició crítica, en encercar la màxima literalitat i el sentit genuí del text podria arribar
a contradir la naturalesa mateixa del procediment automàtic, les correccions que sovint
mostren els manuscrits autògrafs surrealistes i les variants que s'observen en les diferents
edicions impreses tampoc no asseguren que una elemental transcripció dels manuscrits
resultés idònia. L'anàlisi, doncs, se servirà dels arguments de la crítica genètica per tal de
comprendre el procés d'escriptura de Breton i Soupault, i suposarà una reflexió a l'entorn
de la producció del llenguatge i de la, a parer nostra, dubtosa espontaneïtat del procediment
automàtic a la llum d'algunes de les premisses de la psicolingüística.On the basis of an analysis of Les Champs magnétiques by Breton and Soupault, as
published by the «Bibliothèque de la Pléiade», this study will examine the difficulties
involved in editing texts that have been written using the automatic writing technique.
Although, in its attempt to encompass maximum literality and the genuine meaning of the
text, a critical edition may contradict the very nature of the automatic technique, the corrections
that are often found in the manuscripts written by the Surrealists themselves and
the variations that appear from one edition to the next also indicate that a simple transcription
of the manuscripts may not be ideal either. Therefore, this analysis will use arguments
from genetic criticism in order to understand Breton and Soupaults writing
process, and will be a reflection on language production and on the (in our opinion) dubious
spontaneity of the automatic writing process in the light of certain psycholinguistic
premises
