Le paysage : un facteur de développement régional à l'origine de flux économiques territorialement spécifiques ?

Abstract

International audienceAs an amenity, the landscape may be considered a resource for regional development. Using the economic base theoretical framework, this analysis aims at assessing such a potential. After identifying a landscape economic system wherein job are classified according to their alleged sensitivity to amenities, the empirical analysis proceeds in two steps: first, a cluster analysis of French counties on the basis of landscape physical attributes and economic sectors; second, an estimation of the amenity-related basic employment multiplier in three study areas located in the Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes regions. Results tend to show, first, broad landscape regions with corresponding economic sectors, and second, that spending behavior is related to landscape type
