50-years anniversary of the peat-producers association in Germany-Development of the peat- and humus-industry and outlook

Abstract

Die Entwicklung der Verbandsorganisation der deutschen Torfwirtschaft und deren Aufgabe seit der Gründung der ersten Fachverbände im Jahr 1946 werden beschrieben. Des weiteren wird die Entwicklung der Torfwirtschaft von der zunächst relativ einfachen Struktur der Brenntorf- bzw. Ballentorfwerke zu modernen, leistungsfähigen Rohstoffgewinnungsbetrieben und Herstellern hochwertiger Erden- und Kultursubstrate erläutert.The paper gives an overview on the development of the peat-producers association in Germany and the main tasks since foundation of the first association in the year 1946. Furthermore the development of the peat industry from relative simple structured fuel-peat works and factories, respectively, peat-bale factories to modern, productive peat-companies and factories of high-qualified potting-soils and growing media is shown.reportDFG, SUB Göttingen, DGM
