UJI DAYA SERAP METILEN BIRU MENGGUNAKAN KARBON AKTIF DARI LIMBAH SERBUK GERGAJI YANG DIMODIFIKASI DENGAN LIMBAH CANGKANG TELUR

Abstract

ABSTRAK iii Penelitian tentang uji daya serap metilen biru menggunakan karbon aktif yangdimodifikasi dengan cangkang telur telah dilakukan. Sumber karbon aktif yangdigunakan adalah limbah serbuk gergaji, karbon aktif yang diperoleh selanjutnyadimodifikasi dengan larutan kalsium karbonat dari limbah cangkang telur. Karbonaktif termodifikasi diuji daya serapnya terhadap metilen biru dengan variasiwaktu dan pH . Hasil uji adsorpsi menunjukkan bahwa kondisi adsorpsi optimumterjadi pada pH 8 dengan waktu kontak 25 menit. Hasil uji adsorpsi karbon aktiftermodifikasi terhadap metilen biru mengikuti model isoterm Langmuir denganq sebesar 78,74 mg/g. Hasil ini menunjukan karbon aktif termodifikasiberpotensi digunakan sebagai adsorben metilen biru. makKata kunci: arang aktif, cangkang telur, metilen biru, adsorpsi ABSTRACTThe adsorption of methylene blue by activated carbon modified with eggshell had been done. Sawdust waste was used as a sourse of activated carbon. The activatedcarbon obtained was modified with a solution of calcium carbonate from eggshellwaste. The modified activated carbon was tested for removal of methylene bluewith variation of coutaet time and pH. The result of adsorption test results showedthat the optimum adsorption condition was occured at pH 8 with a contact time of25 minutes. The adsorption steady of methylene blue by modified activatedcarbon was folowed adsorption to methylene blue were followed Langmuirisotherm models with q at 78,74 mg/g.
