En este artículo reseñamos el modo en que Michel Foucault lee a las figuras emblemáticas de Platón, Maquiavelo y Hobbes en los cursos biopolíticos. Nuestra hipótesis de lectura es que estos nombres de la filosofía política funcionan como índices negativos del biopoder, como aquello que debe ser llevado al margen en el texto foucaultiano para poder conceptualizar el biopoder. El objetivo de este texto es contribuir a la comprensión de este margen en el que se discuten los problemas de la legitimidad y la representación políticas y que puede designarse como la dimensión jurídico-discursiva de la política.In this article, I review the way in which Michel Foucault reads the emblematic figures
Plato, Machiavelli, and Hobbes in biopolitical courses. My hypothesis is that these
names of political philosophy function as negative indices of biopower, as something
that must be set in the margins of the Foucauldian text to be able to conceptualize
biopower. The aim of this article is to contribute to the understanding of that margin
where the problems of political legitimacy and representation are discussed and can
