La propuesta que se presenta muestra el diseño de una red conceptual multinivel para determinar la sostenibilidad de un sistema socio-ecológico. Tal diseño pasa por establecer diferentes niveles conceptuales para determinar la sostenibilidad. Los niveles del constructo son las disciplinas, los conceptos e hipótesis y los observables. Cada disciplina, relacionada con el objeto de estudio, aporta conceptos e hipótesis sobre el sistema observado. Una determinada disciplina ordena y genera el modo como podemos observar la realidad. Los observables, bien sean cualitativos o cuantitativos, permiten determinar el grado en que una categoría o un concepto se realiza en el sistema que se observa. El trabajo se ilustra con el estudio del impacto del mercurio proveniente de la minería artesanal en la cuenca baja del río Caroní.
The paper presented shows the design of a multilevel conceptual network to determine the sustainability of societal-ecological system. Such design establishes different conceptual levels to determine the sustainability. These levels are the disciplines, the concepts and hypothesis and the observables. Each discipline related with the system studied contributes with concepts and hypothesis about the observed system. Observables whether qualitative or quantitative allows us to de-termine and observe the reality in order to quantify the sustainability.
