Live surround sound mix. Duur: 30 minuten. Ron Wright was in de tachtiger jaren van de 20e eeuw een van de kernleden van Hula, net als Cabaret Voltaire uit Shefﬁeld, U.K. afkomstig. Ook Hula experimenteerde al vroeg met nieuwe media. Ron Wright maakt nu samen met Andy Eccleston autonoom werk. Daarnaast componeert hij soundtracks voor cult-ﬁlms. Samen met Eccleston ontwikkelde hij het werk ‘Spindrift’. Tevens zijn zij samen verantwoordelijk voor het werk ‘Requiem’, dat in de tentoonstelling A Little Bit Goes A Long Way (2) in Consortium te zien en te horen is. Ron Wright / Andy Eccleston  Spindrift is an audiovisual interpretation of imagined landscapes in a boroscopic journey through the inscapes of musical instruments. A series of  110 slides captured with scientiﬁc imaging techniques slowly melt and merge in time to reveal the hidden textures and colours that are formed within the instruments as they are played. An immersive live presentation of a spatial sonic exploration through unknown vistas and ambiguous territories to create metaphors for the relationship between the body and mind.Chris Watson was een van de oprichters van de zeer invloedrijke, experimenteel ingestelde band Cabaret Voltaire. Sinds een aantal jaren wordt hij beschouwd als ’s werelds no.1 ﬁeld recordist. Hij werkt onder meer voor de BBC, verzorgt de geluidopnames voor de natuurdocumentaires van Sir Richard Attenborough en brengt unieke platen uit op Touch. Watson reist voor het maken van zijn opnames alle continenten af en is zelden beschikbaar voor live performances. Consortium prijst zich zeer gelukkig dat Watson op de deze avond twee bijzondere live bijdragen zal leveren.Chris Watson  ‘Midnight at the Oasis’The Kalahari desert is one of the most beautiful and hostile environments on earth where over 85% of the wildlife is nocturnal. After sunset the dunes, grasses and thorn scrub are patrolled by an unseen alien empire - the insects. ‘Midnight at the Oasis’, presented by Chris Watson, is an after dark soundscape, a live surround sound mix, a 20 minute time compression from sunset to sunrise recorded on location in South Africa’s Kalahari desert. Within the comfort of  KHL the listener will be transported and then immersed within the unique and delicate nocturnal music of a landscape we rarely tune in to.
