Although the word saudade is considered unique within the Brazilian and Portuguese cultures and although it is used in both popular and erudite terminology in both cultures, still additional research is needed to prove these assertions. The debate about saudade no longer revolves around two antagonized blocks in relation to the word\u27s origin and discussion of its universal or local application. With this in mind, an analysis trying to sidestep these questions will propose a third approach to the problem
