Trabalho Final do Curso de Mestrado Integrado em Medicina, Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade de Lisboa, 2017Sintomas otorrinolaringológicos podem ser causados por patologia temporo-mandibular, sendo esta definida como qualquer entidade patológica que possa interessar a própria articulação, os músculos mastigatórios, ou as estruturas orais associadas. Desta sintomatologia, destacam-se como mais frequentes a otalgia, o tinnitus, as cefaleias e a vertigem. O tratamento da disfunção temporo-mandibular parece ter uma influência positiva na resolução destes sintomas, devendo esta terapêutica adoptar uma abordagem multidisciplinar, envolvendo várias especialidades, e iniciando-se sempre pelos meios mais conservadores, progredindo para meios mais invasivos, apenas perante a sua falência, traduzida na persistência da sintomatologia em causa.Otorhinolaringological symptoms can be caused by temporomandibular disorders, which can be defined as any pathology involving the temporomandibular joint, the masticatory muscles, or the associated oral componentes. The most relevant and frequent symptoms, found in these patients, are the earache, tinnitus, headache and vertigo. The temporomandibular disorders treatment, seems to have a positive influence on the resolution of these symptoms. The therapy should have a multidisciplinary approach, involving several fields of action, and should always start with the more conservative means of treatment, progressing only in case of failure
