"A modernização do ensino superior no Brasil : o caso do projecto educacional de Darcy Ribeiro na génese da Universidade de Brasília (UnB) e da Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro (UENF)"
Tese de doutoramento, Educação (História da Educação), Universidade de Lisboa, Instituto de Educação, 2017O presente estudo incide, principalmente, sobre a criação de duas instituições de Ensino Superior Público brasileiras, idealizadas pelo antropólogo, educador e político brasileiro, Darcy Ribeiro (1922-1997): a Universidade de Brasília (UnB) e a Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro (UENF). Percecionando em que medida é que o pensamento, obra e percurso de vida de Darcy Ribeiro contribuíram para a criação destas duas Universidades, a investigação pretende reconstituir as condições e o contexto histórico-político que estiveram na base da sua criação, bem como as influências que se fizeram sentir na sociedade brasileira e que marcaram o processo de modernização do ensino superior brasileiro. O período estudado se inicia em 1960, data do começo dos trabalhos do projeto de criação da UnB, e termina já no século XXI após a criação da UENF, esta também apelidada por Darcy Ribeiro como a “Universidade do Terceiro Milénio”. A pesquisa tem por base duas linhas de observação discursiva: por um lado, a demonstração do diálogo pedagógico de Darcy Ribeiro na construção das Universidades e como contributo para a modernização do ensino superior no Brasil (disposição interna); e, por outro lado, a comprovação da realidade do discurso político-social (visibilidade externa ou constatação do real). A ideia embutida nesses projetos é a da educação superior promover soluções, quer dizer, ser uma espécie de fermento da realidade social, sendo esta a melhor metáfora para o papel que Darcy Ribeiro atribuía à Educação Superior e, particularmente, à Universidade. A preocupação de Darcy Ribeiro sempre foi a de expandir e democratizar o ensino superior a partir da modernização da estrutura e do funcionamento das universidades, promovendo ruturas com o modelo tradicional que deu início ao ensino superior no Brasil. O presente trabalho de investigação, sobre a vida e obra de Darcy Ribeiro, apresenta as condições necessárias a um debate sério e descomplexado sobre a evolução do ensino superior no Brasil e, ao mesmo tempo, responde à pergunta recorrente sobre a importância do pensamento de Darcy Ribeiro na génese da UnB e da UENF e sua contribuição para modernização do ensino superior no Brasil.This study is focused, mainly, on the creation of two Brazilian Public High Education Institutions, idealized by the Brazilian anthropologist, educator and politician, Darcy Ribeiro: the University of Brasilia (UnB) and the North Fluminense State University Darcy Ribeiro (UENF). Perceiving in which extent the thought, work and life course of Darcy Ribeiro contributed to the creation of these two universities, this research aims to reconstruct the conditions and the historical-political context which stood at the basis of its creation, as well as the influences felt by the society in Brazil which marked the process of modernization of Brazilian High Education. The period studied begins in 1960, as the starting date for the work proceedings for the creation project of the UnB, and ends with the arrival of the 21st Century and the creation of the UENF, also dubbed by Darcy Ribeiro as the "University of the Third Millennium." This research is based on two lines of discursive observation: on one hand, the statement of Darcy Ribeiro’s educational dialogue in the construction of Universities and as a contribution to the modernization of high education in Brazil (internal disposition) and, on the other hand, the evidence of the reality of the political and social discourse (external visibility or confirmation of reality). The idea embedded in these projects is that high education promotes solutions, that is, to be a kind of social reality yeast, being this the best metaphor for the role Darcy Ribeiro attributed to High Education and, particularly, to the University. Darcy Ribeiro's concern has always been to expand and democratize higher education, beginning with the modernization of the structure and functioning of universities, promoting cuts with the traditional model that gave birth to higher education in Brazil. The present research work, on the life and work of Darcy Ribeiro, presents the necessary conditions for a serious and uncomplicated debate on the evolution of higher education in Brazil and, at the same time, gives an answer to the recurring question about the importance of Darcy Ribeiro´s thoughts for the creation of UnB and UENF, and its contribution to the modernization of higher education in Brazil
