As you know, the ACLS' Report of the Commission on the Humanities (1964) sparked the creation of NEH in 1965, and we consequently have great concern about the well-being of that agency and the sc'holarly qualifications of its Chairman. In that connection, I want to let you know that we would find Professor Robert Hollander of Princeton University thoroughly qualified for this position.
