A News Anchor is a person who daily presents the latest news to us through television. To perceive the message, it is important that the Anchor communicates to the viewers in a distinct way. The communication is not only controlled by words but also the non-verbal factors such as ticks, facial expression and appearance.Clothing is a non-verbal means of communication; and therefore is which one you can deliberately control by choosing what to wear. The purpose of this survey is to find out if SVT1 Rapport and Tv4Nyheterna follow some specific guidelines for adapting your clothes to a news format. We want to examine which factors in the clothes that affect communication between news Anchor and TV viewers and compare if the clothes if different depending on which channels it belongs. To obtain data for our research, we will collect the empirical material by first doing interviews with the stylists at SVT1 and Tv4. Thereafter, there is a semiotic analysis where we during two weeks, will collect, analyse and compare snapshots that we will pick out from SVT Rapport and Tv4 Nyheterna broadcasts. We base our analyze on the design of the clothing, the colour and the pattern. The result of the survey shows that the news Anchor is strictly controlled by the channels guidelines and clothing policies. Primarily, the clothes can not take too much focus, since the purpose of the news Anchor is to convey the editorial office information. The factors that may cause that the clothes are attracting too much focus is in summary; warm and bright colours, low-cut cleavage, short sleeves and unbuttoned top.Whether the news Anchors are dressed slightly different depending on which channel they belong to SVT1 uses a classic dress code with a more stylish model and muted colours, while Tv4 has a more diverse clothing and use of warm colours to highlight the channel profile.Validerat; 20140425 (global_studentproject_submitter
