The Belmont, Massachusetts, native is the most famous graduate of the Bryant soccer program. In 1974 his goaltending efforts led the Indians to the title round of the NAIA regional playoffs. During the 13-match season he set a school record for most consecutive shutouts as he blanked the opposition in eight straight games. His performance earned him selection to the Coaches All New England and college division All-American teams, making him Bryant's first Ail-American. Following his graduation in 1976, he became the first Bryant athlete to sign a professional sports contract when he joined the Rhode Island Oceaneers of the American Soccer League. Since taking over as the Indians' head coach, he has steadily built Bryant soccer into one of the top Division Two programs in New England. Lorraine Cournoyer - Volleyball The volleyball team, under the direction of Lorraine Cournoyer, has been the most successful team in the women's varsity sports program. Lorraine will be trying to lead the team to its third consecutive winning season. Lorraine, who also serves as the Women's Athletic Coordinator, joined the Bryant staff in 1977. She came to Bryant following a four-year teaching and coaching career at Warren High in Warren, R.I. During her tenure at Warren she coached the women's varsity teams in tennis, basketball and volleyball. She organized the school's varsity volleyball program in 1974 and within a year the team qualified for the state playoffs. Fred Reinhardt - Cross Country Fred is the founder of the Bryant cross country and track programs. Except for a two-year absence in the mid 70's, he has directed the Indian trackmen since 1965. During Fred's tenure the Indians have become one of the top college-division cross country teams in New England. One of the leading track officials in New England, Fred also has served as president of the R.I. Timers Guild. In addition to his coaching duties, he is a professor of mathematics at Bryant. Archie Boulet - Golf Archie Boulet is one of the most successful collegiate golf coaches in the East For the past seven years, either an individual member or Boulet's entire team has qualified for national competition. In sixteen years at the helm of the Indian linkmen, Boulet has suffered only two losing seasons. In addition to his coaching duties, Boulet is chairman of the Bryant Science Department and owner of the Woonsocket Country Club in Bellingham, Massachusetts. Pete Barlow - Women's Tennis Coach Pete is a new member of the Bryant coaching staff, but he is a familiar figure in Rhode Island tennis circles. The North Providence, R.I., native was a member of the University of Rhode Island tennis team for four years from 1966 to 1969 and served as captain in his senior year. Since his collegiate days, he has become a prominent member of the Rhode Island amateur tennis fraternity. In the past two years he has won singles and doubles titles in several area tournaments, including two straight crowns in the North Providence town championships. Geraldine Marcoccio - Women's Soccer Geraldine is coach of Bryant's newest varsity sports program. The women's soccer program was initiated on a club level last year and the over-whelming response led to the formation of a varsity team this season. Geraldine was a natural when it came to selecting a coach for the new position. A 1976 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, she was a member of the women's varsity softball, volleyball, and fencing team during her collegiate career. Since graduation she has taught in the Cranston, R.I., and Providence, R.I. school systems in addition to coaching field hockey, volleyball, and basketball at the high school level.
