Is it possible to humanize birth assitance using the birth plan?

Abstract

La restricción de los Derechos Humanos en maternidad es conocida mundialmente. Tras la medicalización del parto, la mujer perdió autonomía, se vulneraron sus Derechos Humanos y se comenzó a percibir un atisbo de violencia obstétrica. Incluir a la embarazada en la toma de decisiones y respetar sus necesidades son recomendaciones de la evidencia científica para humanizar la asistencia a la maternidad; y la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) y el Ministerio de Sanidad reconocen el Plan de Parto (PP) como el instrumento de apoyo para esto. After the medicalization of childbirth, the woman lost autonomy, basic human rights were violated and early signs of obstetric violence were identified. Including pregnant women in decision-making and respecting their needs are evidence based practices to humanize childbirth; the World Health Organization and Ministerio de Sanidad recognize the Birth Plan as the tool to support this. The aim of this study is to analyse the effect of submitting a birth plan on the humanization of childbirth and on women’s birth experiences
