The “truth” of the novel

Universidad de Salamanca, 17-20 de abril de 2018Benito Pérez Galdós was an attentive reader of the philosophers and scientists of his time and very sensitive to the teachings of history. Literature, novels and theater were the instruments he used to establish a dialogue with these frontier knowledge with which to discuss debating about the central problems. The truth was one of them as shown by the two works we analyzed here: Marianela and Santa Juana de CastillaBenito Pérez Galdós fue un lector atento de los filósofos y científicos de su tiempo y muy sensible a las enseñanzas de la historia. La literatura, novela y teatro, fue el instrumento que utilizó para establecer un diálogo con esos saberes fronterizos con los cuales debatir acerca de los problemas centrales.
