Perception of students about the effectiveness of different learning tools: The experience in Family Law of the law degree

Abstract

Frecuentemente docentes y estudiantes tenemos una percepción distinta de la utilidad que reportan para el aprendizaje de estos últimos las diversas herramientas que empleamos a la hora de transmitir los contenidos de las asignaturas. Esta experiencia expone los resultados de una encuesta anónima propuesta por la profesora a sus alumnos de Derecho Civil III (Derecho de Familia), de tercer curso del Grado en Derecho, en la que se trataba de dilucidar qué herramientas de las empleadas efectivamente a lo largo del curso consideran los estudiantes más útiles para su proceso de aprendizaje, con el fin de adaptar lo más posible su uso en la docencia futura a su grado de utilidad. Las herramientas analizadas son: la lección magistral, el comentario jurisprudencial, los cuestionarios de enunciados verdaderos o falsos, los casos prácticos y la redacción de documentos de demanda y contestación a la demanda. Los alumnos pudieron también pronunciarse sobre su grado de satisfacción con otros aspectos de la docencia, relacionados con algunas de estas herramientasMore often than not, when speaking about the process of learning of scholars, teachers and students perceive in a very different way the degree of effectiveness provided by the different tools used when transferring subjects’ contents. This review states the results obtained from an anonymous survey posed by the teacher to the students of the subject “Civil Law III” (Family Law), of the 3rd year of the university Law Degree. The intention was to clarify which of the tools, which actually were used along the academic year, were more effective for their learning and, as a consequence, to adapt their use as much as possible to the future process of lessons provision. The analyzed tools are: master class, case law comment, questionnaires on true/false statements, case studies and writing of statements of claim and defense. Scholars could also express their degree of satisfaction regarding other aspects involved in teaching which are related to some of these tool
