The project of study of unpublished archaeological materials from the ancient excavations in the punic-roman city of Carteia

Abstract

En el presente trabajo presentamos la investigación ceramológica que llevamos a cabo, desde hace dos años, como eje de nuestra Tesis Doctoral: el estudio de los materiales cerámicos aparecidos en las excavaciones (inéditas) llevadas a cabo por F. Presedo (1970- 1987) en la ciudad púnico romana de Carteia (San Roque, Cádiz) y que, coherentes con su época, se centraron en los principales edificios monumentales hasta entonces descubiertos en el denominado “Cortijo del Rocadillo”: foro, teatro, tabernae, domus y templo republicanos, domus y edificio augusteos y termas. Incidiremos especialmente en la metodología que hemos planteado y estamos siguiendo, ya que el reciente inicio del estudio de materiales nos impide proporcionar resultados de mayor alcanceIn this paper we want to introduce our Doctoral research, focussed on the study of the ancient materials (ceramics), found during the ancient (unpublished) digs leaded by the Professor Francisco Presedo between 1970 and 1987 in the Punic-Roman city of Carteia (San Roque, Cadiz), which were concentrated on the main monumental buildings previously discovered in the so-called “Cortijo del Rocadillo”: forum, theatre, tabernae, Republican domus and temple, Augustean domus and building and baths. We will impinge on the methodology we have raised and we are following, due to the early stage of our research, which impede us to provide further result
