Soils were collected from eight monitoring sites by members of JARE. Sites 1-4 were with in Syowa Station. Sites 5 and 6 were several km from the station. Sites 7-8 were close to penguin rookery. Seventy nine strains were isolated: 10 of Cyanophyceae, 29 of Xanthophyceae and 40 of Chlorophyceae. Leptolyngbya spp., Botrydiopsis spp. Xanthonema spp, and Chlorella spp. were common.  我々は環境モニタリングの視点から第 41 次隊から第 49 次隊にかけて土壌藻類群集，土壌微生物群集及び土壌環境について研究を行った。今回は、土壌より分離された藻類培養株の種組成とそれらの分布特性について述べる。調査地点は，昭和基地内の地点 1～4、昭和基地から離れた隊員が近づきにくい地点 5、6、ペンギンルッカーリーに近い地点 7、8 である。 土壌試料は、観測隊員によって夏期間に採集された。試料は-20℃で冷凍し日本に持ち帰り、解凍後培養に用いた。培養には BBM 1.5％寒天培地を用い、15℃、500～1500 lux、12 時間、12 時間の明暗周期の条件で約 2 ヶ月培養を行なった。寒天培地上に出現した土壌藻類を柄付き針で取り出し、形態を微分干渉顕微鏡（オリンパス BX60）を用いて観察し、その後寒天斜面培地に保存した。ただし第 41 次隊のみ、昭和基地で土壌を冷凍せずそのまま培養い分離した 12 株が含まれている。 昭和基地周辺の 8 定点より土壌藻類 79 株を分離した。藍藻 4 属（10 株）、黄緑藻 4 属（29 株）、緑藻 18 属（40 株）であり、緑藻が最も多くの属と培養株が分離できた（表 1）。珪藻は Luticola muticopsis 他数種が寒天培地状にわずかに繁殖したが、用いた培地に珪酸が入っていないことから、分離培養できていない。 藍藻では Leptolyngbya 属（ 5 株）、黄緑藻ではBotrydiopsis 属（13 株）、 Xanthonema 属（11 株）、緑藻では、Chlorella 属（8 株）が多く分離された。地点ごとに特徴的に分離された種類としては、汚水処理水放出地点 1 からは緑藻 Prasiola crispa、緑藻 Klebsormidium flaccidum、緑藻 Coloechlamys cucumis、ペンギンルッカリー近くの地点 8 からは緑藻 Prasiococcus sp.が分離された。昭和基地周辺地点 1-4 から特徴的に分離された種は緑藻Chlorella vulgaris であった。一方、黄緑藻 Botrydiopsis callosa、 緑藻 Schizochlamydella minutissima のように昭和基地内と昭和基地外両方の地点を含む 4 地点以上から分離された種類もあった。当日は各地点の土壌分析データと比較し種類ごとの出現傾向について詳しく述べる。  Taxa Number ofstrainCyanophyceae (4) Leptolyngbya 5 Lyngbya 2 Nostoc 2 Phormidium 1Xanthophyceae (4) Botrydiopsis  13 Gloeobotrys 2Heterococcus 3 Xanthonema 11Chlorophyceae (18) Bracteacoccus 3 Chlorella 8 Chlorococcum 1 Chlorosarcinopsis 2 Coccomyxa 1 Coleochlamys 1 Desmococcus  2 Diplosphaera 3 Follicularia 1 Klebsormidium 1 Leptosira 2 Macrochloris 2 Raphidonema 4 Prasiococcus 1 Prasiola  1 Schizochlamydella 4 Stichococcus 1 Trebouxia 2 Table 1.
