Forestfloor was a sink of CH4 in dry andmoderately wet plots and a source of CH4 inthe wet plot. Particularly high emissionswere measured from birch (B. pubescensand B. pendula) stems. Emissions frombirch and pine (Pinus sylvestris) stemswere dramatically higher under high soilwater content compared to spruce (Piceaabies) trees.
