A globalização confere à tradução um papel cada vez mais relevante e transversal a diferentes setores da sociedade. Podemos destacar a sua importância nas instituições multilingues internacionais, pois é a tradução que faz com que as mensagens sejam disseminadas eficazmente em diferentes idiomas. Esta adquire igualmente especial interesse quando o objetivo de uma instituição passa pela aposta na internacionalização e no acolhimento de comunidades internacionais. É este o caso do Instituto Politécnico de Bragança que tenta manter, e expandir, uma posição de destaque neste campo, apostando para isso na tradução das suas normas, regulamentos e plataformas digitais para língua inglesa, de modo a que todos os estudantes tenham igual oportunidade de acesso àquilo que rege o funcionamento da instituição.
Deste modo, este projeto, realizado no âmbito do Mestrado em Tradução, centra-se na tradução dos regulamentos e normas mais relevantes para os alunos internacionais, bem como na tradução das plataformas de matrículas e do Serviço On-line dos Serviços Académicos que suportam estes documentos digitalmente, apresentando ainda uma componente teórica focada na tradução jurídica e na sua relevância no meio institucional. A tradução dos regulamentos tem como finalidade conceder aos alunos internacionais acesso a todas as regras a que estão sujeitos dentro da instituição de ensino que os acolhe, ao passo que a tradução das plataformas digitais é realizada para que a legislação do Instituto Politécnico de Bragança possa ser posta em prática.
Tudo isto contribui para que a instituição seja um foco de atração para estudantes estrangeiros e funcione de forma fluida e harmoniosa.With globalisation, translation has become an increasingly important activity in several branches of our society. A good example is the role translation plays in international multilingual institutions in conveying their messages in an efficient manner. Translation is equally relevant when an institution aims at becoming more international and at receiving foreign communities. That is the case of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança whose goal is to secure, and expand, a leading position in this field by having its digital platforms and regulations translated into English, so that every student has an equal opportunity to access the documents that govern the operations of the institution.
That being said, this project, carried out within the Master in Translation, focuses on the translation of the most relevant regulations for international students, as well as on the translation of the enrolment and the On-line Service of the Office of Academic Affairs platforms that sustain them. It also includes a theoretical component directed at legal translation and its importance in an institutional context. The purpose of translating the documents is to grant international students access to all the rules they must abide by within the receiving institution, whereas the translation of the digital platforms is a means to implement the legislation written by the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança.
This makes the institution more appealing to international students and contributes to an efficient academic environment
