Memory and identity in social portuguese imaginary: the transdiscourse from origins to the XVII century

Abstract

O tema aponta para uma novidade de perspetiva e de análise no panorama da historiografia sobre Portugal e Espanha. Trata-se de um trabalho de perceção das representações mentais e das singularidades sociais e culturais, em processo de construção erudita de um enfoque muito específico o que obriga a um percurso de triagem e análise nem sempre consentâneo com as delimitações espacio-temporais que orientam os habituais trabalhos sobre produção historiográfica. Pretendemos invocar contextos explicativos fundamentais, cuja coerência é assegurada pela abordagem estrutural (tempo longo). Investigação que se presta à averiguação dos mais variados processos e fenómenos de construção da consciência nacional, permitindonos refletir sobre dois problemas que consideramos fundamentais: a relação entre o poder, mormente político e o território e a averiguação dos mecanismos de identidade, de memória e de utilização do passadoThe theme points to a renewed perspective of analysis in the general field of historiography in Portugal and Spain. It is a work of perception of mental representations and social and cultural singularities in the erudite process of building, with a very specific approach, which requires a route screening and analysis not always in line with the spatial and temporal boundaries that guide usual work on historical production. We intend to invoke fundamental explanatory contexts, whose coherence is ensured by the structural approach (long time).
