A partir de fuentes iconográficas y arqueológicas y de documentación de archivo, esta tesis doctoral ha estudiado la construcción naval realizada en Cataluña durante los siglos XIII-XVI. Galeras, naves y barcas, los tres tipos de embarcaciones de aquella época, se diferenciaban por la forma, que a su vez venía determinada por la función. Además de los aspectos técnicos, la tesis también se centra en las personas encargadas de la construcción el mantenimiento y la reparación de las embarcaciones, carpinteros de ribera y calafates.With the help of archaeological and iconographic sources and archival documentation, this thesis studies shipbuilding in Catalonia from the thirteenth to sixteenth centuries. Galleys, ships and boats, the three types of vessels from that time, were different in form, which in turn was determined by their function. In addition to technical aspects, the thesis also focuses on the people in charge of the boats' building, maintenance and repair, ship carpenters and caulkers
