En aquest article s'analitza com s'ha tractat l'estil en la traducció catalana, feta per Maria-Antònia Oliver el 1989, de la novel·la de Virginia Woolf The Waves (1931). S'estableix que els principals trets estilístics que presenta el TO - la manca de narrador, l'ús persistent del simple present, una forta presència del ritme i de les repeticions, i també d'al·literacions, símbols, metàfores i símils- tenen com a objectiu important caracteritzar-la com a obra híbrida entre poesia, novel·la i teatre, però sobretot com a obra poètica. S'examina la presència d'aquests trets en el TM, i es conclou que la traducció d'Oliver reflecteix amb precisió, però amb força autonomia respecte del TO, els diversos recursos estilístics que trobem a l'obra de Woolf, amb tot el que simbolitzen.This article analyzes style in the 1989 Catalan translation, by Maria-Antònia Oliver, of Virginia Woolf's The Waves (1931). It is established that an important object of the main stylistic features in the ST - the absence of a narrator, the persistent use of simple present, a great use of rhythm and repetitions, as well as alliteration, symbols, metaphors and similes- is to characterize the work as a hybrid between poetry, novel and drama, with a predominance of the first. The stylistic features in the TT are then analyzed, and it is concluded that Oliver's translation relays with precision, but also with a certain amount of autonomy, the features found in Woolf's work, together with all they symbolize
