  Kurzzusammenfassung Diese Arbeit beschreibt die Synthese organischer Halbleiter für lösungsprozessierte, organische licht-emittierende Dioden (OLEDs). Das Hauptaugenmerk liegt hierbei auf der Ermöglichung einer Löslichkeit der neuen Materialien in polaren Lösungsmitteln wie Wasser oder Alkoholen. Während OLEDs sich in den letzten Jahren zu einer bewährten Technologie für Display- und Beleuchtungsanwendungen entwickelt haben, bestehen kommerziell erhältliche Produkte ausschließlich aus im Vakuum prozessierten Bauteilen. Jedoch verspricht die Herstellung mittels lösungsbasierter  Methoden eine günstigere und einfachere Beschichtung großer und flexibler Substrate. Einer der Faktoren, die einen Durchbruch von lösungsprozessierten OLEDs verhindert, ist die allgemeine Löslichkeit organischer Halbleiter in halogenierten oder aromatischen Lösungsmitteln, welche für einen großflächigen industriellen Gebrauch beschränkt sind. Daher ist das Ziel dieser Arbeit die Synthese und Anwendung von Materialien, welche - verglichen zu etablierten organischen Halbleitern - eine erhöhte Löslichkeit in polaren Lösungsmitteln aufweisen, während die optoelektronischen Eigenschaften erhalten bleiben sollen. Im ersten Teil dieser Arbeit werden lochleitende Moleküle auf Basis verschiedener Arylamine synthetisiert. Im Gegensatz zu etablierten lochleitenden Materialien für lösungsprozessierte OLEDs, besitzen diese Moleküle Triethylenglycol Gruppen anstelle der üblichen Hexyl oder Hexyloxy Gruppen. Darüber hinaus sind diese Verbindungen mit Oxetan Gruppen funktionalisiert, die eine Quervernetzung mittels kationischer Ringöffnungspolymerisation ermöglichen. Dies kann einerseits dafür genutzt werden, um eine prozessierte Schicht für die Anwendung in mehrschichtigen Bauteilen vollständig quer zu vernetzen oder aber auch für die Anwendung in OLED Displays, fotolithografisch zu strukturieren. Die erhöhte Polarität der neuen Materialien ermöglicht eine Prozessierung aus Cyclopentanon, einem etablierten Lösungsmittel für Fotolacke in Halbleiterwerken. Deren Leistung wurde in    lösungsprozessierten OLEDs getestet und mit etablierten Materialien verglichen. Fotolithografische Strukturierungen dünner Filme der neuen Verbindungen zeigten eine Kompatibilität mit einem wasser-basierenden Entwickler welcher Anwendung für Fotolacke in der Herstellung von CMOS-Wafern findet. Außerdem wurde die Verwendung dieser neuen Materialien als funktioneller Fotolack in Mikrokavität OLEDs näher untersucht. Um die Betriebsspannung in OLEDs zu senken, wurde die Eignung der neuen Materialien bezüglich einer lösungbasierenden p-Dotierungs Methode in Leitfähigkeitsmessungen und Hybrid OLEDs untersucht. Der zweite Teil dieser Arbeit beschreibt die Synthese und Anwendung von lochleitenden Materialien, deren Wasserlöslichkeit durch die Einführung ionischer Funktionen in den Seitenketten ermöglicht werden sollte. Ein sulfoniertes N,N'-Diphenyl-N,N'-bis(m-tolyl)-benzidin (TPD) Derivat wurde für die Anwendung in OLEDs aus Wasser und Methanol prozessiert. Die Leistung der damit hergestellten Bauteile war, verglichen zu etablierten neutralen lochleitenden Verbindungen, deutlich reduziert. Die Einbringung einer lochleitenden Zwischenschicht an der Grenzfläche zur emittierenden Schicht, brachte die Leistung auf ein gleichwertiges Niveau mit der Referenz.  Der dritte Teil beschreibt die Synthese und Charakterisierung eines carboxylierten Wirt-Gast Systems als emittierende Materialien in OLEDs. Der Gast besteht aus einem Ir(III)-Komplex, der aufgrund der erhöhten Spin-Bahn-Wechselwirkungseffekte die Emission aus Triplett-Zuständen erlaubt. Das dazugehörige Wirt-Material besteht aus einem 1,3,5-Tris(N-phenylbenzimidazol-2-yl)benzol- (TPBI) Kern und Triarylamin Gruppen, wodurch ein bipolarer Ladungstransport zum Gast ermöglicht werden soll. Beide Verbindungen sind mit mehreren Carbonsäure Gruppen funktionalisiert, die eine Löslichkeit in polaren Lösungsmitteln sicherstellen sollen. In den elektrochemischen und fotophysikalischen Untersuchungen wurden die carboxylierten Verbindungen mit den tert-Butyl geschützten Präkusoren, die in gängigen organischen Lösungsmitteln löslich sind, verglichen.    Abstract This work describes the synthesis of organic semiconductors for solution-processed organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). The main focus lies on enabling a solubility of these novel materials in polar solvents such as water or alcohols. While OLEDs have become an established technology in display and lighting applications in recent years, all commercialized products are entirely fabricated by vapor deposition. However, fabrication by solution-based methods has the advantage of allowing the low-cost and simple coating of large and flexible substrates. One issue that withholds the breakthrough of solution-processed OLEDs is the solubility of common organic semiconductors in halogenated or aromatic solvents, which are restricted for large-scale industrial use. Therefore the aim of this thesis is the synthesis and application of materials that have, compared to established organic semiconductors, an increased solubility in polar solvents, while maintaining similar optoelectronic properties. In the first part the synthesis of hole transporting materials (HTMs), based on different arylamine motifs, is described. In contrast to the established HTMs for solution processed OLEDs, these novel materials possess triethylene glycol groups instead of hexyl or hexyloxy groups. Furthermore, they are functionalized with oxetane groups that allow the crosslinking via a cationic ring opening polymerization (CROP) after processing, to allow on the one hand a complete crosslinking of the layer for multi-layer OLEDs and on the other hand the photolithographic patterning for applications such as OLED displays. The increased polarity of the novel materials allows the processing from cyclopentanone which is a common solvent for photoresists in semiconductor fabrication. Their performance is tested and compared to established HTMs in solution-processed OLEDs. Photolithographic patterning of thin-films of the new compounds revealed a compatibility with a water-based developer, which is widely-used for common photoresists in the production of CMOS-wafers. Furthermore, the potential application as functional photoresists in microcavity OLED   displays is investigated. In order to reduce the operating voltage, the applicability of the novel materials toward a solution-based p-doping method was explored in conductance measurements, as well as in hybrid OLEDs, which were partially processed by vapor deposition in high vacuum. The second part of this work describes the synthesis and application of HTMs in which water-solubility was obtained by introducing ionic functions to the sidechains. A sulfonated TPD derivative was processed from water as well as from methanol in fully solution-processed OLEDs. The performance of devices containing the new compound was clearly reduced compared to common neutral HTMs. The introduction of a hole-transporting interlayer at the interface to the emitting layer helped to bring the performance on par with the reference device. The third part of this work describes the synthesis and characterization of a carboxylated host-guest system to function as emissive materials in OLEDs. The guest is an Ir(III)-complex that allows the emission from triplet states due to enhanced spinorbit coupling. The corresponding host material incorporates a 1,3,5-tris(N-phenylbenzimidazole-2-yl)benzene- (TPBI) core and triarylamine functions that should allow a bipolar charge transport to the guest. Both compounds bear several carboxylic acid functions which enables the solubility in polar solvents. In the electrochemical and photophysical investigations the carboxylated compounds are compared to their tert-butyl protected precursors that are soluble in common organic solvents.
