O tratamento endodôntico é um tratamento recorrente em ambulatório. Algumas falhas na
remoção total da polpa necrótica ou erros na obturação durante o tratamento endodôntico não
cirúrgico podem causar complicações estéticas, nomeadamente, o escurecimento dentário.
Nos incisivos centrais superiores, a alteração de cor tem importância a nível estético e origina
um problema no sorriso do paciente. Para uma boa estética destes dentes, é necessário utilizar
técnicas de restauração adequadas. O maior desafio para o Médico Dentista é conservar, ao
máximo, a estrutura do dente natural: as técnicas conservadoras. Nesta revisão vamos abordar
as possibilidades de tratamento do escurecimento dos incisivos centrais superiores
endodonciados, originado pelar permanência de materiais endodônticos e por falhas do
tratamento endodôntico não-cirúrgico. Procurar-se-á clarificar critérios de seleção do
tratamento a efetuar, descrever duas técnicas conservadoras de branqueamento interno (uma
simples com perborato de sódio e outra combinada “in office” que comtempla branqueamento
interno e externo). Discutir-se-á a evolução do dente no tempo com estas técnicas, limitações
destas duas técnicas e riscos associados aos tratamentos realizados.Endodontic treatment is a recurrent outpatient treatment. Some failures in total removal of the
necrotic pulp or errors in obturation during endodontic treatment may cause aesthetic
complications, namely, dental browning. In the upper central incisors, the color change is
important at the aesthetic level and causes a problem in the patient's smile. For a good
aesthetic of these teeth, it is necessary to use adequate restoration techniques. The biggest
challenge for the Dentist is to keep the structure of the natural tooth to a minimum:
conservative techniques. In this review we will discuss the possibilities of treatment of the
darkening of the upper central endodontic incisors, originated by permanence of endodontic
materials and failures of the non surgical endodontic treatment. It will be sought to clarify the
criteria for selecting the treatment to be performed, to describe two conservative techniques of
internal bleaching (one with sodium perborate and an "in office" that combines internal and
external bleaching). We will discuss the evolution of the tooth in time with these techniques,
limitations of these two techniques and risks associated with the treatments performed
