Clifton Williams wasappointed Dean of the Law School after having served on the facultyfor many years in conjunction with the late Dean Max Schoetz, Jr.EDITORIAL COMMENTHe has had many years of active practice in the courts of variousstates and in the Federal courts also. Mr. Daniel J. McKenna joinedthe law school faculty.. Dean Williams has striven to bring the law school and the studentsin closer touch with the practicing members of the profession. Insteadof permitting the student's time to be devoted solely to the theoryand principles of substantive law and practice, he has established aregular lecture hour once each week, in addition to the regular classes,at which time men actively engaged in the practice of law lecture tothe assembled student body on special phases of the law they believeof value to the students. These lectures have been found most inter-esting and instructive by the student body.To impress the students with a thorough comprehension of theprofession they are preparing to enter and of the duties and obligationsthey are preparing to undertake Dean Williams has innovated the regu-lar weekly reading of the Oath of Admission to the Bar that is pro-vided for by statute in the State of Wisconsin, before the assembledstudent body every Monday morning by students selected by lot.The especial benefit that is noticeable from the innovations mentionedis the development of a better and more noticeable esprit de corpsamong the students as students of the law and a more uniform accept-ance of the ideals of the profession as a social conception commonlyheld instead of one varying with the extent of each individual's notionof individual and social values as is noticeable among the practicingmembers of the profession.MILWAUKEE BAR ASSOCIATION MEETINGSIn conjunction with the Marquette University Law School, the Mil-walkee bar association is conducting a series of addresses followed byopen forum discussions in the moot court room of the Law School.The first evening, February 13, 1928, was devoted to the questionof the Reduction of Trial Issues under Wisconsin practice. This wasled by Mr. J. G. Hardgrove, a member of the Milwaukee bar, who readthe paper which appears at the forepart of this issue of the LAWREVIEW. The meeting was well attended and interesting discussionswere entered into by other members of the bar.Subsequent questions to be discussed at these evening meetings are asfollows:Monday, March 5, 1928, Dean Clifton Williams, subject: SomeProblems Connected with "Home Rule" in Cities Under WisconsinStatutes.Monday, March 26, i928, Mr. Nathan Glicksman, subject: Tobe announced later.164 MARQUETTE LAW REVIEWMonday, April i6, 1928, Mr. Walter H.
